Abstract In a new approach to the specific labelling of organic compounds with tritium use is made of isotope exchange with tritium of certain specific hydrogen atoms in organic molecules when stirred with tritium gas in solution at room temperature in the presence of a metal hydrogen transfer catalyst. Specifically labelled tritiated compounds of high…
Abstract dl‐Nornicotine‐2′‐ 14 C was synthesized in four steps. Nicotinic acid (carboxyl‐ 14 C) was first esterified with diazomethane to yield methyl nicotinate (carboxyl‐ 14 C). The ester was condensed with 3‐lithio‐ N ‐trimethylsilyl‐2‐pyrrolidone to give 3‐nicotinoyl‐ N ‐trimethyslsilyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (ketone carbonyl‐ 14 C), which was hydrolyzed and decarboxylated in concentrated hydrochloric acid to give myosmine‐2′‐…
Abstract This review summarises the present knowledge concerning the decomposition by self‐irradiation of compounds labelled with the radioisotopes, carbon‐14, hydrogen‐3 (tritium), sulphur‐35, selenium‐75, chlorine‐36, phosphorus‐32, iodine‐125, iodine‐131, cobalt‐57 and cobalt‐58. A discussion of the methods which can be used for the control of this decomposition is also included.
Abstract A series of 5β‐cholanic acids labeled with deuterium in the A ring were prepared by exchange labeling of the corresponding ketone by column chromatography on deuterated alumina. Factors affecting yield and labeling efficiency are discussed. 5β‐Cholanic acids labeled with 13 C in the carboxyl position were prepared by treatment of the corresponding 23‐chloro‐24‐norcholane with…
