Abstract 1-Aminoalkylphosphonic acids 1 as analogs of 1-amino-carboxylic acids are important because of their potential biological activity. These act as substrates or inhibitors of enzymes involved in the metabolism of amino acids. Several phosphono dipeptides and oligopeptides are known to repress bacterial growth. Many of these studies have been carried out using racemic l-amino- alkylphosphonic…
Abstract The solubility of elemental rhombic sulfur in water is 1.9(±0.6) × 10−8 mole S8·kg−1. This value is in agreement with thermodynamic considerations on the solubility of sulfur and experimental data on sulfur hydrosols.
Abstract In order to dicuss mechanism in organophosphorus chemistry a number of assumptions have to be made. Among them are: (a) that substitutions at tetrahedral phosphorus proceed via five-coordinate intermediates; (b) these intermediates are trigonal bipyramidal; (c) they are formed by apical attack and decompose by apical loss; and (d) if sufficiently long-lived, they may…
Abstract The following article summarizes our work on acylphosphines and acylphosphides as well as on alkylidene- and alkylidynephosphines, most of which were thought only thirty years ago not to exist under ordinary conditions.
