Disposal of worn out tyres and other rubber-based products is a global problem. They are not biodegradable. Since they are crosslinked, they can not be recycled like thermoplastics. Keeping the environmental and economic factors in mind, it is envisaged that the disposal problem could be solved by incorporating ground waste rubber into virgin polymer matrices.
