Polymer nanocomposites, especially polymer-layered silicate (PLS) nanocomposites, represent a radical alternative to conventionally (macroscopically) filled polymers. Because of their nanometer-size dispersion, the nanocomposites exhibit markedly improved properties when compared with the pure polymers or conventional composites. These include increased modulus and strength, decreased gas permeability, increased solvent and heat resistance and decreased flammability. In addition…

Abstract An overview of the development of antitumour organotin derivatives is presented and discussed for selected classes of compounds, such as tetraorganodicarboxylatodistannoxanes and related diorganotin dicarboxylates, and for triorganotin carboxylates. Among the carboxylate groups used are steroidcarboxylates and other biologically relevant carboxylates. High to very high in vitro activities have been found, sometimes equalling that…
Abstract This review describes the structural chemistry of organotin carboxylates, covering data acquired for mono‐, di‐ and tri‐organotin compounds and complexes. A brief discussion is given for organotin amino‐acid derivatives.
Abstract Organometallic chemistry and biochemistry have been merged in the last two decades into a new field: bioorganometallic chemistry. This new research area was devoted to the synthesis of new organometallic compounds and their biological and medical effects against some types of diseases, such as cancer and malaria. For several years, the use of ferrocene…
Abstract This perspective examines the state‐of‐the‐art of catalysis by metal nanoparticles. We outline various methods for preparing metal nanoparticle suspensions, and highlight the role of the stabilizers and the stabilizing principles. Subsequently, we examine some catalytic applications of homometallic and bimetallic nanoparticle suspensions in a variety of reactions. The cases are divided according to the…
