REGULARITY OF SOLUTIONS TO A TIME-FRACTIONAL DIFFUSION EQUATION

William McLean · 1 Oct 2010

Abstract We prove estimates for the partial derivatives of the solution to a time-fractional diffusion equation posed over a bounded spatial domain. Such estimates are needed for the analysis of effective numerical methods, particularly since the solution is typically less regular than in the familiar case of classical diffusion.

The time fractional diffusion equation and the advection-dispersion equation

Fu Huang, Fawang Liu · 1 Jan 2005

Abstract The time fractional diffusion equation with appropriate initial and boundary conditions in an n -dimensional whole-space and half-space is considered. Its solution has been obtained in terms of Green functions by Schneider and Wyss. For the problem in whole-space, an explicit representation of the Green functions can also be obtained. However, an explicit representation…

A CHEBYSHEV PSEUDO-SPECTRAL METHOD FOR SOLVING FRACTIONAL-ORDER INTEGRO-DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

N. H. Sweilam, M. M. Khader · 1 Apr 2010

Abstract A Chebyshev pseudo-spectral method for solving numerically linear and nonlinear fractional-order integro-differential equations of Volterra type is considered. The fractional derivative is described in the Caputo sense. The suggested method reduces these types of equations to the solution of linear or nonlinear algebraic equations. Special attention is given to study the convergence of the…

Harvesting in a two-prey one-predator fishery: a bioeconomic model

T. K. Kar, Kripasindhu Chaudhuri · 1 Jan 2004

Abstract A multispecies harvesting model with interference is proposed. The model is based on Lotka-Volterra dynamics with two competing species which are affected not only by harvesting but also by the presence of a predator, the third species. In order to understand the dynamics of this complicated system, we choose to model the simplest possible…

SEIR epidemic model with delay

Ping Yan, Shengqiang Liu · 1 Jul 2006

Abstract A disease transmission model of SEIR type with exponential demographic structure is formulated, with a natural death rate constant and an excess death rate constant for infective individuals. The latent period is assumed to be constant, and the force of the infection is assumed to be of the standard form, namely, proportional to I(t)…
